Setup
Deck: Use a standard 52-card deck, no jokers.
Players: 4 players are ideal, each dealt 13 cards.
Card Rankings:
Rank (highest to lowest): 2, Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.
The 2 is the highest card, and the 3 is the lowest.
Suit (highest to lowest): Hearts (♥), Diamonds (♦), Clubs (♣), Spades (♠).
Suits only matter when comparing cards of the same rank (e.g., 7♥ beats 7♠).
Dealing:
For the first game, choose a dealer randomly (e.g., by cutting the deck for the highest card).
Deal 13 cards to each player, typically clockwise.
In subsequent games, the loser of the previous round deals.
Starting Player:
In the first round, the player with the 3 of Spades (3♠, the lowest card) starts and must play a combination that includes the 3♠ (e.g., as a single, pair, or sequence).
In later rounds, the winner of the previous round starts and can play any valid card or combination.
Objective
Be the first player to discard all 13 cards in your hand by playing cards or combinations that beat the previous play.
Gameplay
Turn Order: Play proceeds clockwise. Each player must either:
Play a card or combination that matches the type (e.g., single, pair, sequence) and beats the rank of the previous play.
Pass if they cannot or choose not to play. Once you pass, you’re locked out of the current round until a new pile starts (see below).
Playing Cards:
You must match the type and number of cards played previously. For example:
If a single card is played (e.g., 5♣), you must play a higher single card (e.g., 7♦).
If a pair is played (e.g., 8♥ 8♦), you must play a higher pair (e.g., 9♣ 9♠).
The highest card in the combination determines its rank, with suits breaking ties if the ranks are equal (e.g., 10♥ 10♦ beats 10♣ 10♠ because Hearts outrank Spades).
Ending a Round:
A round continues until all players pass consecutively or one player plays a card/combination that no one can beat.
The player who played the last unbeatable card/combination clears the pile, starts a new pile, and can play any valid card or combination of their choice.
Dropping Out:
When a player plays their last card(s), they drop out of the game.
Play continues among remaining players to determine 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place.
Game End:
The game ends when only one player has cards left—this player is the loser.
The first player to shed all their cards is the winner.
