The Best
Good port of a great classic!

Nostalgia
This is one of my all-time favorite games and I was skeptical on how good it would be since it’s just on the phone. It’s not the SNES, but it’s been every bit as enjoyable as I remember it being in the 1990s. I’ve beaten the game multiple times, so it’s been a great way to relax and just enjoy what I think is a near perfect game.

No cloud saves
Classic game. Plays well with controller but saves do not work between devices so if playing on iPad and then switch to phone the saves will not be there. Only game I’ve seen that does this. Very annoying.

Play this game
You get a mobile version of possibly one of the best SNES JRPG games of all time and also it’s the upgraded version that originally was only on DS so the added content is worth it as well

They changed the dialog
Perfect touch control port. They changed the dialogue everywhere, so egregious they change the meaning of the original scene. Worst example so far is Azala’s death. Why??

Bad port
How are there not any sound options?

I can't turn the music off?
I play podcasts while playing games. Unless I'm missing something, there's no way to turn the music down or off.

Making a classic available
I’ve been playing on an Apple TV 4K recently and despite the issues with the lack of graphics options it’s been smooth. My only issue is not being able to hide the persisting menu button on screen while playing with gamepad. Developer - Please give us the ability to hide touch screen buttons.

Just don’t… not worth even $5
Oh lord terrible…. The graphics don’t matter it’s the controls and over all playability… horrible port. Play it on a browser emulator on pc… ignore CHRONO Trigger the bs edition.

Make a harder difficulty for real gamers, if you do I will assess and reevaluate my rating.

Greatest Game of All Time.
This game is an actual masterpiece and could potentially be the greatest story ever told through any medium. Story: 10/10 Music: 10/10 Gameplay: 10/10 (Git gud Death Mountain Haters) If for whatever reason you haven't played this absolutely EPIC JRPG yet... Do it. Your only regret will be that you didn't pick it up sooner.
★★★★negativeHDDCompa · 2025-11-10 · v2.1.1
Bad port of a great game
This is my favorite snes game, but the port has a bug every time you start the fight against Magus where the text always skips. What’s the point of playing an RPG if you can’t even read the story?
★★★★★positiveEdwardGarmon · 2025-08-24 · v2.1.1
Amazing and easy to play
They made this soooo easy to play on the phone. An actual dream. Would love more Jrpgs to be this well made.
★★★★positiveMentions pricingclcarrow · 2025-08-15 · v2.1.1
Almost a perfect port
Doesn’t suffer from the same frame pacing issues that that PC (Steam) version has a modern hardware/Windows. Yay! However, there is an awful filter that just ruins the pixel art that you can’t disable. This filter is present on PC but you can turn it off. If this port had feature parity with the PC version, it would be the best way to play this game easily (unless they fixed the PC port). Between the weird issues and poor design choice on any platform, the best version of the game remains the DS port, which is sadly cost-prohibitively expensive.

Branching Out
This game truly is the entire package, and the wrapping, with the pretty bow on top. The story is engaging, the gameplay is smooth and crisp, the artwork is beautifully rendered, and the replayability is unmatched. With modern technology, where it is, this is one of the few truly masterful RPG games that could be configured for iOS accessibility function for visually, impaired and blind people using the voice over system. Hopefully that becomes a norm with future games, but as of right now, there are so woefully few games for accessibility friendly systems like iOS. I would love for this game to take that step and for the developers to consider that there is an entire demographic of customers out there who are visually impaired or fully blind that would absolutely adore the story in this game if they made it Voiceover/accessibility, friendly. Just food for thought.
★★★★★positiveATLfoodguy · 2025-05-17 · v2.1.1
GOAT
A solid port of one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Selection on menus when playing on iOS is a little difficult but gameplay on AppleTV, with any controller, is just like playing in the 90s.
★★★★★negativeBpWally · 2025-05-14 · v2.1.1
Great port, sort of
You would think after so many years that they would fix the issues with being able to toggle the sound. There is no option to so you can play your own music while playing.
★★★★negativeNdjdjckejendnxnjsjej · 2025-04-08 · v2.1.1

Otherwise perfect, but curious about cutscene support
Appears to be missing the anime cutscene when Robo first appears. I read online the cutscenes are there on later events (Ayla) but wanted to reach out on the store page as I have not gotten that far yet. I do see the Movies option in Extras but I haven’t cleared the game yet to be able to see them. Thanks for bringing this classic to iOS, it plays like a dream with no hassle in regard to mechanics and controls.
